Job Title: Communications Officer

1. Position summary
The Communications Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the organization’s communications strategy. The role involves creating compelling content for various channels, managing media relations, and enhancing the organization’s visibility and reputation among target audiences and key stakeholders.
2. Roles and responsibilities
Communications Strategy
- Assist in designing and executing comprehensive communication and marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Ensure all communications are consistent with the organization’s brand identity, standards, and strategic objectives.
Content Development and Production
- Create, write, and edit a wide range of communications materials, such as press releases, newsletters, articles, speeches, website content, and promotional materials.
- Develop compelling content tailored for specific audiences and platforms.
- Produce or assist in the production of multimedia content, including videos, infographics, and photographs.
- Draft, format, and layout publications and reports.
Digital Communications Management
- Manage and monitor the organization’s social media channels (e.g., Facebook, X, LinkedIn) and website, ensuring timely updates and fresh content.
- Use web and social media analytics to track engagement and inform strategy decisions.
- Implement digital marketing activities, such as email communications.
- Curate and maintain digital media archives of photos, videos, and other assets.
Events and Administration
- Support the planning and execution of promotional events, workshops, press conferences, and campaigns.
- Provide communications support for the company.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
3. Required skills and qualifications
Education and Experience
- Diploma, Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, IT, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Some experience as a Communications Officer/intern or in a similar role.
- Some experience in social media management and digital content creation.

- Digital Proficiency: Expertise with social media platforms, and content management systems.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build relationships, collaborate with diverse teams, and engage with external stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional time management, organizational, and multitasking abilities to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to think critically, exercise good judgment, and navigate issues effectively, including during potential communication crises.
- Creativity: A creative mindset with the ability to generate new ideas for strategies and content.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential. Skills in graphic design software and video editing are advantageous.
